Basic information

Want to take your singing to the next level? The Primrose Hill Singers is for you! Entry is by audition. Rehearsals are held in the Primrose Hill area every fortnight, on a Wednesday or Thursday, 7.45-9.45pm, costing £10 each, paying for the whole term in advance.

About the Singers

We are an entertaining and sociable twelve-voice vocal group who sing a terrific variety of music to a high standard. To Hear Us see menu above. Since we started in 2013 (see Press) we have sung Christmas carols old and new (e.g. Gaudete and Santa Claus is Coming to Town), tuneful classical songs from the Renaissance to today (e.g. by Morley, Handel and Kodaly), catchy gospel arrangements and pop songs (e.g. Blackbird by the Beatles, Mack the KnifeValerie by Amy Winehouse and Someone Like You by Adele), and many members have enjoyed singing solos. As well as performing to appreciative audiences at Primrose Hill Choirs concerts the Singers have sung at Camden market, the Victoria & Albert Museum, and in many of Primrose Hill's nicest pubs (the Albert, Lansdowne, Steele's and Washington).

How to join

You will need a good voice and to be able to sing with confidence. You will sing in tune and be able to hold a harmony part by yourself. Being able to read music is an advantage, but is not essential as harmonies are posted online. Entry will also depend on being able to attend most rehearsals. At the audition you will have to sing one song in any style which shows off your high or low notes (depending on which part you are applying for), do a range test, echo a few short phrases played on the piano and sing a round (given on the day). Email Matthew for an application form.
